We are currently looking for fundraising volunteers, volunteer drivers, and befrienders to join our amazing volunteering team and help us support visually impaired people throughout the county.
Fundraising Volunteers:
If you are looking to support a local charity and help those who have been affected by sight loss, why not become a fundraising volunteer for MyVision Oxfordshire?
You will be part of a team of volunteers, raising funds to provide services such as technology training, counselling, and social groups for those who are visually impaired and blind. The role is flexible and there are various ways you can support, for example, helping with bucket collections, attending events, and being a part of our fundraising committee.
It is a great way to not only make a difference to your local community, but also meet new people and be part of a dedicated team. Travel expenses can be claimed, and a full DBS check will be provided.
If you are interested, please email volunteers@myvision.org.uk or phone 01865 725595.
Befriender Volunteers:
Are you able to spare an hour a week to visit a visually impaired person within your community? We are seeking volunteers across the county to visit people who have been affected by sight loss. This would involve visiting a client on a regular basis for a chat and a cup of tea, to help those feeling lonely and isolated.
We will provide visual impairment awareness training and a full DBS check. Travel expenses can be claimed. Being a befriender is a great way to meet new people, increase your own social contact, and at the same time brighten someone’s day.
If you are interested, please email volunteers@myvision.org.uk or phone 01865 725595.
Telephone Befrienders:
Are you a good listener, supportive and outgoing? We are looking for volunteers who could call someone weekly, to offer a friendly voice and support. This role is flexible and can be done from your own home.
We will provide visual impairment awareness training and a full DBS check.
Becoming a telephone befriender will give you the opportunity to make new friendships, gain an insight to what it is like to live with sight loss and improve your social skills.
If you are interested, please email volunteers@myvision.org.uk or phone 01865 725595.
Volunteer Drivers:
Do you have a car and some spare time to help visually impaired clients? We are looking for volunteer drivers who can offer visually impaired clients transport to social groups, events or to the MyVision Resource Centre. It will give you the opportunity to meet new people and help those within your community.
We ask that you have a full, clean driving licence and that your vehicle is safe and properly maintained. We will need proof that your vehicle is insured, and we ask that you inform your insurance company that you will be driving in a voluntary capacity. We will provide visual impairment awareness training, and a DBS check. Travel expenses can be claimed.
If you are interested, please email volunteers@myvision.org.uk or phone 01865 725595.
