MyVision Oxfordshire provides engaging Visual Impairment Awareness Sessions for schools, helping students understand what it means to live with sight loss. Our sessions challenge misconceptions, promote empathy, and equip young people with the knowledge to support visually impaired peers. Schools can choose a short assembly covering what visual impairment is, its effects, and how people navigate daily life, or a one-hour classroom-based lesson with practical activities and deeper discussions on inclusion.
The one-hour session includes:
- Sighted guiding – students learn how to safely guide someone with sight loss
- Types of visual impairment – exploring different conditions and their impact
- Barriers and inclusion – discussing challenges and how to create a more accessible world
These sessions align with PSHE and inclusion objectives, helping students develop awareness and practical skills to foster a more inclusive school community.
Schools can book these sessions as a paid service or support MyVision Oxfordshire by fundraising on our behalf. Enquire for a quote or consider making us your chosen charity partner to help us continue our vital work.
