The RNIB Talking Books service provides free access to over 37,000 audiobooks for visually impaired individuals in the UK.
This service is available to anyone registered with the RNIB Library, which can be done by calling the RNIB Helpline on 0303 123 9999 or emailing helpline@rnib.org.uk.
Accessing RNIB Talking Books:
Once registered, users can borrow up to six books at a time, with no limit on how many they can borrow over the year. All Talking Books are high-quality, unabridged versions, providing the best possible reading and listening experience.
RNIB has recently updated its service, allowing users to keep their current book without needing to return it to receive the next one. Users can create their own library or return the CDs for recycling. The frequency of book delivery can be tailored to the reader’s pace.
Dolphin EasyReader App:
The Dolphin EasyReader app is a free, user-friendly app that provides access to RNIB Reading Services. It can be downloaded from the Apple App Store.
To use EasyReader:
1. Download the app.
2. Create a free account within the app using an email address and password, or sign in with an existing Google account.
Users can then log into the RNIB Reading Services account within the app, where they can search for and download books. The app allows users to search by author, title, or keyword. Once a book is downloaded, it can be easily played on the app, with options to navigate through the book by headings, time jump, etc.
