Siri is a very powerful tool that can make so many aspects of daily life significantly easier. One function that is particularly useful is Siri’s ability to help with public transport directions. Here is how to use it:
1. Activate Siri:
– Say “Hey Siri” loudly, press and hold the Home button (front bottom centre), or the side button (right side) until the Siri screen appears.
2. Ask for Directions:
– Say “Get me public transport directions to [your destination].”
3. Siri’s Response:
– Siri will show a summary of your route on the screen, usually in the top half.
To Have Bus Times Read Out Using Spoken Content:
1. Check Spoken Content is On:
– Go to Settings (gear icon) > Accessibility (hand icon) > Spoken Content.
Make sure “Speak Selection” and “Speak Screen” are turned on (green).
2. Use Spoken Content:
– Triple-click the Home button (for devices with a button) or the Side button (for devices without a Home button). This opens the Accessibility Shortcut.
3. Activate Speak Screen:
– Swipe down with two fingers from the top of the screen. This gesture tells your iPhone or iPad to read what’s on the screen.
4. Listening to Bus Times:
– When the public transport information is on your screen, use the two-finger swipe down to have it read out loud. The bus times or directions usually appear in the middle of the screen.
Remember, for the Spoken Content controller (finger button), you must have it added to your Accessibility Shortcut for quick access.
