We are excited to announce our new project called ‘Get Online Get Connected.’
The purpose of this project is to give visually impaired people the tools, confidence, and support to get online and feel confident using the internet. The project will focus on the following areas:
Get Online Workshops:
These workshops will take place across the county. They will cover topics such as mobile and tablet devices, speech and magnification software, deciphering online jargon, and what you can get out of the internet. We will be holding sessions in Oxford and Banbury in the autumn. If you are interested, please get in touch.
Training Sessions:
We’ll be holding one-to-one training sessions to help you make the most of your device, whether that is emailing, online shopping or contacting your family. The sessions will be tailored to you.
Tech Buddies:
Later in the year we’ll be setting up a tech buddy service. We’ll match you with a tech volunteer who can meet with you and support you with ongoing queries while working alongside you to develop your tech skills.
Peer-to-peer support:
We’ll also be setting up a peer-to-peer support group to share knowledge, encourage each other, and learn together. This group will be set up later in the year.
