Describe yourself in one paragraph.
I’ve always loved crafts, I fell in love with sewing machine at school and made everything from handbags to curtains. I was devastated when I lost the majority of my sight and gave up on my crafts. After learning how to live with what I had, I started testing some crafts and discovered that while I could use my machine, hand sewing was tactile enough to do basic seams. I use bodkins and easy thread needles. Crafts are very important to me, they keep my brain working and I have a great sense of achievement. I don’t just sew, I’ve made everything from rag rugs and decoupaged tea caddies to dream catchers and clay modelling. I love being creative and trying different things.

What would you say to someone who feels they cannot do crafts because of their vision?
I used to think I couldn’t craft any more, but learned a new style. Most crafts are tactile enough to learn through touch. Just like anything, it will take time, but it’s fun learning!
